Congratulations of creating the new Cuchara Valley Recreational Metropolitan District. Re-opening the Cuchara Mountain Resort into a four seasons recreational venue will give the area a much needed financial boost. Since my wife and I recently closed on a property in the Aspen Leaf Village, we are especially happy. I will update The Unofficial Cuchara Blog with any new developments. http://www.cucharablog.com

I was born and raised in Walsenburg. Moved away after graduating St. Mary's High. I lived in Virginia the past 39 years and just moved back to the area. So good to be back. I live in south Pueblo County near the Huerfano line. I am trying to locate a relative with the last name of Bertoldi that once lived in Toltec. My great-grandfather ran the pool hall in LaVeta. He built one the the "stone" houses on Ryus Street. He also had a ranch across from the Devil Steps. If anyone has info on the Bertoldi family please contact me.

Looking for info about my great great uncle Allan McLean, a rancher and journalist, who died of consumption near Walsenburg May 30, 1891. Wondering what happened to his widow Kate (nee Brine) and the "bright little boy" who survived him. Your site is great---gives a real feel for the topography, weather, people and history of your county. Thanks!

I lived in Aguilar, Walsenburg and Trinidad. I am the daughter of Ernest Pfaffenhauser looking for family members. Sure were a lot of them. Miss everything about all those small towns. I managed a hotel in Walsenburg that used to be a hardware store where I went shopping for clothes with my dad. What memories.

Left Walsenburg in 1944. After my time in the Navy I lived in Aurora and Littleton. I go see folks in Huerfano County so I stop and see the old sights in town. Can't get that HCHS is no longer the high school. The town seems to be doing well. Wish you all Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
